Mix Up Your Lighting

Do you know all the different types of lighting you can have for inside your home?

Here they are:-

  • General
  • Task
  • Accent
  • Mood

But what do they all mean and where do you put them?

I’ll try to explain:

  • General Lighting floods the whole room with light so you don’t go tripping over the furniture – it can be pendant or down lighting.
  • Task Lighting lights up a specific area to allow us to read, sew, cook or perform other tasks that need a strong light
  • Accent Lighting highlights a feature we want to stand out such as artwork, plants, or even a textured wall.
  • Mood Lighting does just that – it creates an atmosphere of warmth and cosiness – such as shaded table lamps

The best lighting plan for a room is to have a combination of at least three types. Notice the different ones in the pics below.
