Pantone’s Two Colours of 2016 – I Can’t Like Them

b8876772z.1_20151210134639_000_gp1d9e47.3_0-1b6i4rtPantone has officially announced Pantone 15-3919 Serenity and Pantone 13-1520 Rose Quartz as their Pantone Colors of the Year selection for 2016. This is the first time that two colours have been chosen and, to be honest, I don’t know why they bothered.

Pantone claims that this color combo is a harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquillity and inner peace.Sounds like a load of old rubbish to me.

Mary Ward from the Sydney Morning Herald’s Lifestyle section, says “Pantone’s colour of the year is great if you’re decorating a nursery in 1952”.

I do agree – but then pastels aren’t my thing at all. But really, with all Pantone’s Colours of the Year  you just need a touch to keep up with the latest trend. I don’t expect many people will be rushing to paint their living room walls in baby pink or baby blue, but a cushion, a rug ….  no actually,  I will never use pink or blue except for a nursery which is the only place Pantone’s 2016 colours belong.

What do you think?
